There are two basic types of tubes that are used for tattooing. We call these “Tattoo Tubes”. The first type is made from metals; the second type is made from plastics.
Metal tubes can be made into one or two piece designs. One piece tubes offer soldered in brass tips. These brass tips will not wear down needles like stainless tips will. Brass tips can also be replaced as they wear.
The second type of tube is made from plastic. These tubes are made for “one use only” making clean up a snap. Some states require the use of disposable tubes.
Tubes also need grips. Tattoo grips can be made from aluminum, stainless steel, brass, plastic, or rubber. The grip makes it easier to hold onto the tube. Grips come in several different sizes. Most plastic tubes have to grip built into it. Stainless steel tubes use removable grips.
